WORMS

The German city of Worms, nestled beside the Rhine River, lies about 70 kilometers south of Frankfurt. It is best known for its magnificent medieval cathedral, the classic legend of the Nibelungs, and the history of its Jewish community. This ancient city boasts a history spanning over 6,000 years, predating even the arrival of the Romans. Indeed, it could be considered one of the oldest cities in Germany, alongside Trier and Cologne.

It is surrounded by vineyards, and its white wine is exquisite. The cities of Mainz, Speyer, and Worms are home to the three great imperial cathedrals of the Upper Rhine. The majestic towers of Worms Cathedral, with over a thousand years of history, are widely visible from afar. Worms Cathedral, or Wormser Dom as it is known in German, was built between 1125 and 1181 and is one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in Upper Germany.
